Travel Time Surveys

 

Traffic Data and Control has successfully undertaken over 10 major travel time programs in the past 12 months. We use Garmin GPS units, Map Source program and TravTime software has enabled us to provide accurate and informative data, including congestion hot spot identification, signal coordination issues and peak travel time profiles.

2010 Travel Time Survey—Brisbane and Sunshine Coast

Client—Department of Transport & Main Roads

This survey consisted of 15 car routes and 4 bus routes on the Sunshine Coast and 13 car routes and 6 bus routes in Brisbane. All car routes use the “floating car” method. Semi –automated GIS-based data checking procedures were designed and used.

City Design—Various Travel Time Surveys

Client—Brisbane City Council

Over a one week period, 3 routes were surveyed using the “floating car" method during 6 separate time periods per day

Kuranda Range Road Travel Time Survey - Cairns

Client—Department of Transport & Main Roads

Six vehicles collected data from 6am to 6pm for one day. Each vehicle was allocated a specific vehicle type from the Austroads Vehicle Classification Scheme to follow on each run. Detailed GPS data provided informative platooning and congestion source information.

SEQ HOV—Travel Time Surveys

Client— Bitzios Consulting

Over 5000 runs were completed for this program using over 30 staff over a 4 week period.

Gold Coast Highway Signal Coordination Travel Time Survey

Client –Department of Transport & Main Roads

Travel times from Broadbeach to Burleigh Heads were collected during selected times over a two day period and were then used for the successful coordination of traffic signals along the Gold Coast Highway.

Brisbane Urban Corridor—Travel Time Survey

Client—Department of Transport & Main Roads

This monitoring survey was undertaken for trucks and other vehicles, for 5 days per month over a 4 month period. Innovative comparative outputs were produced.
